ABOUT THE CHCA

STRUCTURE

Established in 1990, the Canadian Home Care Association (CHCA) is a national non-profit membership association dedicated to advancing excellence in home and community care. Through our diverse membership base, the CHCA represents public and private organizations that fund, manage and provide services and products in the home and community.

OUR MISSION: To enable people to safely stay in their homes with dignity, independence and quality of life by informing and influencing policy and practice.

OUR VISION: An integrated home and community-care system that provides seamless patient- and family-centred care that is accessible, accountable, evidence-informed, integrated and sustainable.

Guiding Principles

The National Home Care Principles underpin all of CHCA’s work. The CHCA developed the Principles using nationwide stakeholder consultations to represent the collective values of the home care sector in Canada. They guide our member-focused initiatives and reinforce our commitment to enabling our members to provide high-quality care.

Accessible Care

Individuals and their caregivers have equitable and consistent access to appropriate care.

Accountable Care

Patients, providers, and system outcomes are managed, met, and reported.

Evidence-Informed Care

Persons receive care informed by clinical expertise, patient values, and the best available research evidence

Integrated Care

Individuals’ needs are met through coordinated planning and delivery involving multiple providers and organizations.

Person – and Family-Centred Care

Individuals and their caregivers are central to the planning and delivery of care.

Sustainable Care

Individuals whose needs can be met at home will receive the necessary services and support.
